Lukisan post impresionisme hampir sama dengan lukisan impresisonisme, tetapi post impresionisme dilukiskan secara lebih bebas dan spontan. Aliran post impresiosnisme muncul sebagai kelanjutan dari aliran impresionisme. Pelukis post impresionisme banyak bermunculan di luar negeri terutama pada abad XX. Para pelukis post impresionisme diantaranya adalah Vincent Van Gogh (“Stary Night”, “Red Vineyard At aries”, Self Potrait”), George seurat (“Une Baignade asniers” ).
